The Honorable Michael R. Pompeo is the former U.S. Secretary of State, the former Director of the CIA, and a former Congressman. Secretary Pompeo began his career as a United States Army officer before working as an attorney, entrepreneur, and globally recognized diplomat.
Secretary of State. Secretary Pompeo considerably influenced American foreign policy during his tenure as the United States’ chief diplomat. Nominated by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate, Secretary Pompeo strengthened U.S. global politics and affairs through exemplary leadership, artful diplomacy, and devout advocacy of U.S. interests.
CIA Director. Before serving as the United States’ chief diplomat, the President nominated, and the Senate confirmed, then-Congressman Pompeo to lead the Central Intelligence Agency. As the Director of the CIA, the Honorable Mike Pompeo strengthened the agency’s reputation as the world’s most capable and trusted intelligence authority. From his frontline work, Secretary Pompeo understands the rising risk of cybersecurity and terrorist threats like few others. Director Pompeo began his political career as a popular Congressman representing Kansas’s 4th congressional district.
Education & Admissions. Secretary Pompeo graduated— first in class— from the United States Military Academy at West Point and, in 1994, from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia.
