Peter T. Phillips is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney who offers his clients the dual experience as a former federal prosecutor and as a proven federal defense attorney.
Assistant U.S. Attorney. Mr. Phillips understands what it means to face the federal government. Before entering private practice, Mr. Phillips stood on the other side, representing the United States in the South Carolina federal court system. As an Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Phillips worked closely with many federal law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). These experiences have given Mr. Phillips essential insights into the inner workings and decision-making processes of federal investigations and prosecutions.
Client Services. Mr. Phillips dedicates his practice on avoiding and defending charges in federal criminal cases. Given the breadth of his experience, from both government and private practice, Mr. Phillips is able to counsel clients effectively in a variety of practice areas. These areas include federal conspiracy cases, white-collar offenses (in particular federal fraud cases), computer offenses, immigration cases, narcotics cases, and firearms violations. In addition, Mr. Phillips has extensive trial and appellate experience in the federal courts.
