Rene Garcia

Senior Investigator
Former U.S. Secret Service Special Agent

A career federal law enforcement professional with more than 27 years of service with the United States Secret Service, Rene Garcia brings to Oberheiden P.C. deep expertise in protective operations, electronic crimes investigations, fugitive recovery, and cellular and digital forensics. He holds an active Top Secret security clearance and is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Protective Operations. Rene served on the protective detail for former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush from 2009 to 2014, where he held assignments as a member of the protective detail, assistant shift leader, and protective operations driver. Throughout his Secret Service career, Rene also fulfilled roles supporting the protection of the President and Vice President of the United States, as well as visiting foreign heads of state—handling lead advance, site advance, motorcade route planning, protective intelligence, threat assessments, and team coordination with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.

Electronic Crimes & Digital Forensics. As a member of the U.S. Secret Service Electronic Crimes Special Agent Program (ECSAP), Rene conducted complex investigations spanning computer forensics, cell phone forensics, and cyber crimes. He served with the North Texas Electronic Crimes Task Force in Dallas and previously with the North Miami Electronic Crimes Task Force. Rene was a recognized instructor within ECSAP and the Wireless Mobile Investigation Program, where he trained incoming agents in the analytical tools and techniques used in modern federal investigations.

Fugitive Operations & Cellular Records Analysis. Rene served as a team leader for fugitive recovery operations, coordinating directly with local, state, and federal agencies. He developed investigative procedures for electronic surveillance, cell phone carrier records analysis, and social media intelligence used in support of fugitive apprehension efforts nationwide. His proficiency includes Zetx, Nighthawk, Whooster, and Google Earth, among other specialized investigative platforms.

Federal Investigations Experience. Over the course of his Secret Service career—with assignments in Puerto Rico, Miami, Dallas, and on protective details—Rene investigated U.S. and foreign currency counterfeiting, access device fraud, identity theft, false identification fraud, bank and check fraud, counter surveillance and counter terrorism matters, and crimes against children.
