With a focus on white-collar criminal defense and internal investigations, Attorney Subodh Chandra is a former federal prosecutor who primarily handles high-profile federal litigation.
While working as Cleveland’s Director of Law, Attorney Chandra established a system in which he was able to save millions for the city by cutting 90-percent of the spending on outside counsel. Additionally, he made a point to clear the department of corruption through internal investigations.
Attorney Chandra has a history of working on large healthcare fraud cases, having prosecuted fraud and corruption cases during his time as a federal prosecutor. His work during his time as a federal prosecutor earned him a commendation from FBI director Robert Mueller for “demonstrated excellence.”
Before delving into legal roles in government, Attorney Chandra worked at large law firms in Los Angeles and Cleveland. While working in California, Chandra’s cases included defending the cities of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills against police misconduct allegations, representing large media companies, and other high-profile work. Notably, Attorney Chandra defended the television show, “Hard Copy,” against libel charges from pop star Michael Jackson.
Attorney Chandra started his long and illustrious legal career at the American Bar Association, where he worked as the special presidential counsel.
A graduate of Yale Law School, Attorney Chandra was an active member of his law school community and held a position as the executive editor of the Yale Law & Policy Review. Before law school, he attended Stanford University, where he graduated with honors and distinction and was awarded the John Gardner Fellowship.
In addition to his career as a practicing attorney, Attorney Chandra has also taught law classes in appellate practice and legal ethics at the Distinguished Practitioner in Residence at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
Presently, Attorney Chandra serves as a member on the Special Ohio Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. He is licensed to practice law in Ohio, California, and in federal courts around the United States.
