Keith Jones

Keith A. Jones served as the First Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama until February 14, 2025. Before this position, he was the Chief of the Civil Division from April 1, 2020, to October 31, 2024. He also held roles as an Assistant United States Attorney in both the Southern District of Alabama and the District of Montana, focusing on bankruptcy and defensive civil litigation.
From 2005 to 2017, Mr. Jones worked as Senior Tax Counsel for the Montana Department of Revenue, where he specialized in bankruptcy, centrally assessed property, liquor licensing, and tobacco tax enforcement. Prior to that, he served as a Special Assistant Attorney General at the Montana Department of Environmental Quality from 2002 to 2005. Between 2000 and 2002, he practiced law at a boutique firm in La Jolla, California, concentrating on telecommunications and real property law. Mr. Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Montana State University in 1997 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming in 2000.
