Clay Fowlkes

David Clay Fowlkes previously served as the First Assistant United States Attorney, where he oversaw the Criminal and Civil Divisions of the office.
Throughout his tenure in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Fowlkes also led the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) Unit and prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases. He has held several leadership roles, including Criminal Chief and Senior Litigation Counsel. Mr. Fowlkes has received notable recognitions, including the Executive Office of the United States Attorney Director’s Award for Outstanding Litigation Team in 2011 for his work on the *U.S. v. Bernie Hoffman*, aka Tony Alamo, jury trial. He also earned the Executive Office of the United States Attorney Director’s Award for Outstanding Performance by an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division in 2014 for his contributions to the “Operation Great Scott” and “Operation Pantera Negra” OCDETF cases.
Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Fowlkes worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Benton County, Arkansas, from September 2003 to December 2007.
A native of Harrison, Arkansas, Mr. Fowlkes is a graduate of Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas School of Law.
Mr. Fowlkes succeeded DAK Kees as U.S. Attorney after Kees resigned on January 17, 2020.
