Julie A. Beck currently serves as the Acting United States Attorney, having taken on this role on January 20, 2025. She has been an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) since 2003, most recently holding the positions of First Assistant and Acting Administrative Officer.
In her capacity as First Assistant, Ms. Beck oversaw office operations, managing divisions such as administrative, criminal, civil, appellate, and branch offices, with a staff of approximately 235 employees and contractors. She co-led attorney hiring efforts and conducted interviews for all support and administrative positions. Additionally, she was responsible for overseeing the District’s security program, Continuing Office Operations Plan, and Critical Incident Response Team.
From October 2023 through December 2024, Ms. Beck served as Acting Administrative Officer, where she managed the Administrative Division, including IT and Records Information Management, Litigation Technology, Human Resources, Procurement, Budget, and Facilities.
Ms. Beck began her tenure with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Civil Division’s Forfeiture and Financial Litigation Unit. She later transitioned to the Controlled Substances Unit, focusing on large-scale drug and money laundering conspiracy cases as well as OCDETF operations. Notably, she received the OCDETF Forfeiture Case of the Year award in 2007 for her work on United States v. Flenory, a complex multi-defendant cocaine conspiracy and money laundering case, which she handled alongside former U.S. Attorney Dawn Ison. She also earned a DOJ Criminal Division Award in 2009 for her work on the United States v. Ralsky case, a significant CAN-SPAM prosecution.
Ms. Beck later returned to the Civil Division as Chief of the Forfeiture and Financial Litigation Unit, supervising a team of 26 staff members, including AUSAs, paralegals, legal assistants, investigators, and contractors.
