Erik S. Siebert

Erik S. Siebert is the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
In this role, Mr. Siebert oversees the prosecution of all federal crimes and civil litigation matters in EDVA involving the United States. He leads a team of approximately 300 prosecutors, civil litigators, and support staff across four divisions located in Alexandria, Richmond, Norfolk, and Newport News, serving over six million residents.
Mr. Siebert began his career with EDVA in 2010 as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, where he handled a wide range of cases, including violent crime, drug trafficking (both domestic and international), firearms trafficking, fraud, child sexual exploitation, illegal immigration, and public corruption. He also served as the Lead Task Force Attorney for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) in EDVA. From 2019 to 2024, Mr. Siebert held the position of Deputy Criminal Supervisor for the Richmond Division of EDVA.
Throughout his career, Mr. Siebert has earned numerous accolades, including the 2018 OCDETF Mid-Atlantic Region Case of the Year Award and the 2024 Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Award for Outstanding Community Impact Investigation.
Before joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Siebert served as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., from 2002 to 2006. He also served as a law clerk for Judge Henry E. Hudson of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2009 to 2010.
Mr. Siebert earned his J.D., with cum laude honors, from the University of Richmond Law School in 2009 and his B.A., with distinction, from the Virginia Military Institute in 2001.
